La Planchadora joins self-consumption together with TSO Group to cover their essential needs during this health crisis in the most sustainable way

TSO Group has designed, installed and is currently monitoring the 23.20 kW SUNO® Ultralight panel photovoltaic solar plant, which already supplies electricity during the day to La Planchadora, a well-known dry cleaner and laundry in Seville for its express home service.

Thanks to this photovoltaic plant, La Planchadora covers 97% of its daytime electricity demand, obtaining great benefits in terms of energy savings and efficiency. In this sense, the annual production of the solar plant will reach more than 36,000 kWh and will reduce CO2 emissions by more than 14,000 kg per year, a figure that is equivalent to planting 433 trees each year. According to Jesus Jimenez, manager of La Planchadora, “we are very happy to have a self-consumption plant on our roof which, while allowing us to save money, also contributes to the environment by generating clean energy.”

Due to its adaptability to any surface and high efficiency, the panel installed in the photovoltaic solar plant of La Planchadora has been the SUNO® Ultralight, exclusive of TSO Group. Its flexible and ultralight material has allowed a 100% architectural integration, without the need of structures or perforations. These solar panels are only adhered to the roof with a special polymer to avoid damaging it, as it is treated with an insulating material against high temperatures.

This company will also have the ECO20® seal from TSO Group that will certify the production of photovoltaic solar energy in self-consumption of its plant, which is guaranteed by ECA Bureau Veritas. This requires a minimum period of three months in which to verify the consumption and condition of the solar plant. The company expresses its satisfaction with this sustainable commitment and the manager assures that the next step is to “discard plastic packaging in favour of a more renewable material, such as paper.”

La Planchadora is among the companies that have continued its activity since the decree of State of Alert by the COVID-19, adding to their daily work the manufacture of acetate masks and face protectors, which they distribute among their customers, health personnel and the bodies of the Police and the Civil Guard of the Andalusian capital. In addition, the manager of this company has announced that “we already have prepared masks and protective screens for children”, on the occasion of the permission to walk that has been granted by the Spanish Government and that will be official from Monday 27th.

TSO Group and SABICO SEGURIDAD implement for the first time in Spain a safety system with optical fiber in a rooftop self-consumption PV plant

The innovative SINGLE FOP system guarantees maximum security with real-time communications in the event of incidents or theft of solar panels

TSO Group, which has recently celebrated 25 years in the photovoltaic solar energy sector, adds another milestone in the Spanish self-consumption by collaborating with SABICO SEGURIDAD to implement the first security system with plastic fiber optics in a distributed generation plant in Spain. Specifically, in the 424 kWp self-consumption photovoltaic installation on the roof of a renowned private university centre, located in the province of Seville.

This innovative system known as SINGLE FOP consists of the installation of plastic fiber optics in each of the solar panels of the photovoltaic plant, ensuring maximum protection against theft and incidents, by generating communications via email of the status of the plant in real time. The rooftop distributed generation plant for self-consumption, where SINGLE FOP has been implemented for the first time in our country, consists of a total of 1117 solar panels, for which more than 2 km of plastic fiber optics have been required.

Some of the advantages of this innovative safety and protection system is its wiring of a diameter of merely 2.2 mm, which can easily be installed in the solar panels, and the immunity it has against interference from antennas, electrical cables or bad weather. Among other qualities, it is noteworthy for its performance in extreme temperatures, from -40º to +85º, due to its polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) core and its anti UV coating.

With this pioneer project, TSO Group and SABICO SEGURIDAD join forces with the aim of implementing in Spain a photovoltaic self-consumption that, under the seal of this cooperation, is synonymous with quality, safety and excellence. Integrating the monitoring and assistance to the energy efficiency guaranteed by TSO Group, through its GRAE department, with the advanced security and protection system SINGLE FOP by SABICO SEGURIDAD, monitored in one of its Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC).

Last Thursday 5th December TSO, The South Oracle participated in O&M and Asset Management 2019 presenting its OSR patent (Optimized Solar Repowerning).
Here’s a photographic summary, an event organized by SolarPower Europe y Solar Trade Association:

TSO optimizes and repowers solar plants with drone

TSO, The South Oracle, has patented an exclusive software for the automatic identification of failures in the images taken with drone in solar panels, which in addition to guaranteeing the maintenance of photovoltaic plants, also allows repowering.

In order to develop this project called OSR, Optimized Solar Repowering, TSO has a team of engineers and scientists within the Biomedical Technology Centre of the Polytechnic University of Madrid (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid) who work with leading-edge technology to complete this software that will be launched on the market in the first quarter of 2020.

What is OSR?

After an exhaustive analysis of photovoltaic plants in Europe, TSO’s R&D department saw the need to accelerate the maintenance process, minimizing costs and its duration. Therefore, the research focused on developing a computer system connected to drones, the aim of which was to provide in record time, a complete report of the current status of each photovoltaic panel within a plant.

Thus OSR, the preventive-predictive and corrective Smart Solar Maintenance (SSM) software, was born, which through thermography and visible image with drone also guarantees the Repowering/Revamping of solar plants, detecting failures in solar modules instantly and allowing the reinstallation of damaged panels for optimal solar production, even offering an economic study of such repowering/revamping. In this way, OSR will be presented as an innovative solution in the updating of photovoltaic plants that have already completed their warranty period and need to return to full performance.

With this software, TSO will put an end to the problems many current installations have nowadays, which gradually affect their production during their useful life, by predicting the panels that are going to fail before compliance with the guarantee and those that have to be changed in plants that have completed 10 years of operation and are therefore out of guarantee. Reports of this company indicate that around 6-8% of the solar modules present failures in plants installed 10 years ago and that 2% of the modules will fail throughout their useful life in any solar plant.

In conclusion, OSR will cover three existing needs in photovoltaic plants. Firstly, the preventive-predictive and corrective (SSM); secondly, the plant repowering/revamping to optimize the production and finally, the economic study and the new proposal that will guarantee the maximum profitability of the solar plant.

TSO announces that a demonstration of the advantages of its OSR patent will be conducted during the O&M and Asset Management International Congress to be held on 5 December in London.
